Stephanie Wheatley, Creative Arts Specialist

I am thrilled to be returning to Shady Oak Christian School as the elementary Creative Arts teacher. I first taught art at Shady Oak Christian and later Shady Oak Primary from 2009 to 2017. I also taught English to upper elementary students and was a classroom assistant for K-2.

My connection to the school stretches back to 1998 when my daughter attended Readiness through 1st grade. As you can see, I love the school so much, I can’t stay away and now my granddaughter also attends!

My background is in Library Science, but my interest in arts and crafts has been a lifelong passion. My goal, as an art teacher, is to expose students to different techniques and mediums, familiarize them with artists and their styles and to instill confidence in them to explore their own creative talents..

I am originally from the UK, but have lived in Richmond (with a brief stint in Dubai U.A.E.) for the past 36 years. I have 3 adult children and one granddaughter who keeps me on my toes! I love all things British…ask me about tea, the English countryside, Wallace and Gromit and the correct spelling of aluminium :-)

A firm believer in lifelong learning, I will be embarking on becoming a Texas Master Naturalist in the Fall of 2025. Traveling, baking, crocheting, reading, crafting, yoga, singing (badly) along to alternative 80’s hits, cuddling with my cats, all while drinking tea… are some of the things I enjoy doing in my free time.
